Client

This project involves the design and construction of a new sports facility that will add a new 25m, six lane swimming pool, four court sports hall, and a climbing wall for the Perse School in Cambridge. Works also involved further enhancing the facilities of the school through landscaping and traffic calming to their access road.

We held a number of value engineering workshops where we would brainstorm ideas with main contractor i.e. we made changes to the groundworks, repositioned the plant room and raised the building to lift it above the water table, safeguarding the programme and avoiding expensive dewatering whilst also reducing the volume of excavated material that needed to be reduced from site.

Scope included Reduce dig, piling, formwork, steel fixing, lift pit, installation of balance tanks, retaining walls, Sub-station, disposal, all drainage, services, 278 works and hard landscaping. Newtownstewart has partnered with Cementaid who provide the waterproof concrete and preform pre-pour inspections before each pour and a warranty on completion.

Responsibility for all method statements, risks assessments and COSHH, traffic plans, design calculations notes, detailed design drawings and shop drawings and construction programme to include design elements of the works, schedule of deliverable with dates, Health and Safety documentation as part of the Design process were all necessary to complete our works.
