Newtownstewart Construction Ltd undertook enabling works in the early summer of 2017 prior to the main contract commencing in August 2017 – this involved relocating ducting for power and communications to the existing building and the construction of a mezzanine floor.
The main works began at the start of August 2017 and included;
- New drainage lines – both storm and sewer
- Installation of a storm water pumping chamber and control valve chamber
- Reduced dig and installation of a piling mat
- Construction of reinforced concrete slabs for the installation of the Mock tunnel, gantry crane and rail track
- Installation of ducting and chambers throughout the site with associated street lighting/ CCTV column bases
- Works to new aligned road to include kerbing and surfacing
- Installation of reinforcement and concrete to composite floor decking inside the existing building to create additional office and training space
- Construction of the reinforced concrete upstands for the installation of railway track
