Newtownstewart McKinney is delivering a £16.5 million civil engineering and groundwork package as part of the West Park Residential development, led by Bouygues UK and situated within the grounds of University of Exeter. Our works comprise large-scale bulk excavation and off-site disposal, recontouring using imported engineered fill, construction of five student accommodation blocks to floor slab level, installation of mainline drainage infrastructure, and associated external and site development works.
Spanning a 24-month programme, the project requires close coordination with the main contractor and wider project stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery at every stage. Operating within a live university environment further emphasises the scale and complexity of our involvement. The scheme includes the export of approximately 60,000m³ of material, alongside the importation of 31,500m³ to achieve final formation levels. Successfully managing this level of logistical and technical demand calls for rigorous planning, experienced leadership, and a skilled workforce.
Our contribution to this major residential development underlines Newtownstewart McKinney’s proven capability in delivering complex, large-scale civil engineering and groundwork packages, reinforcing our reputation for performance, reliability, and excellence across the sector.
