The Sizewell C programme includes a range of civil engineering and concrete works designed to support major infrastructure development on site. The scope covers mobilisation and demobilisation, temporary works, earthworks, reinforced concrete construction, working platforms, reaction blocks, and guidewalls for diaphragm wall installation.
Initial activities focus on site preparation and testing, including trial holes and CBR testing to confirm ground conditions. Working platforms are constructed through topsoil stripping, grading, compaction, and the placement of geotextile, drainage layers, and engineered fill. Temporary access facilities and compounds are established, complete with fencing and supporting infrastructure.
The project delivers a series of reinforced concrete structures, including high-strength reaction block slabs and 147 metres of guidewalls to support diaphragm wall construction. Works include blinding, reinforced rising walls, mass concrete backfill, and carefully installed formwork in accordance with engineering specifications. Reinforcement is supplied and fixed to structural design, and all surfaces are finished in-situ to the required quality standards.
On completion, the works provide stable working platforms, durable reinforced concrete structures, and fully prepared compounds to support ongoing construction at Sizewell C. All activities are carried out under strict safety compliance, with detailed handover documentation supplied, including testing records, reinforcement details, and as-built information.
